Hi everyone, nice to fianlly meet some of you in person! Here's the recap I posted on PF earlier this morning. I have since read some other recaps and sounds like my experience was similar to others.
Hi everyone! I went to bed immediately after returning home at 1am and haven't read any recaps/reviews yet to modify my opinions. So here's my unbiased recap.
I met up with craazyforadam for dinner (at Rodano's, but separate from the AO buffet room). Then we went to the Ramada pub for drinks with the IDF group. We arrived at the theater at 6:45ish, and the merchandise tables were surrounded by a crowd 6-7 people deep. And that stuff wasn't cheap either! Of course my favorite shirt design was the most expensive ($50), but with all proceeds going to Adam I bought one. The other designs were $35-$45, fingerless gloves for $35, posters for $10.
I was in row L, right-center; great seats considering I didn't go the scalper route. Allison looks great, she has lost a little weight and her frenetic stage antics have mellowed out a little since I saw her on the Idols Live tour. She still has problems with enunciation, though; I couldn't for the life of me make out the lyrics to the songs I didn't know.
Orianthi can shred (I know, I know, tell you something you didn't already know!). Her voice was better than I expected. I didn't hear many bum notes, although of course it's not as powerful as Adam or Allison. People at the IDF gathering agree, Orianthi and Allison should form a rocker chick band together.
They really dragged out the transition between Orianthi and Adam's sets. At first they were moving equipment, setting up risers, and legitimate things. But then it seemed everything was in place and the stage sat empty for 5-10 minutes (estimating here, it felt like an eternity).
The crowd went nuts when the album cover picture was placed up on the projector. The recorded version of FYE accompanied the image on the screen, which faded back and forth to the new Lee Cherry black feather collar picture.
Fianlly (lol), we heard the opening strains of Voodoo and the real Adam appeared from behind the rear riser in a delightfully glam-pimp outfit. Deafening screams. He was really working the theatrics for the first third of the set. Hence, the first third was my favorite part. The dancers performed a fierce tribal-like dance to full-band percussion while Adam was doing an outfit change backstage. And OMG, when he rose up in the floor-length coat for Sleepwalker...thud. He can't be human! If he's not an alien then he's some sort of fabulous poltergeist, defying the laws of nature that hold the rest of us back.
The acoustic portion was gorgeous. He definitely had a few "take it all in" moments during WWFM and Soaked. While the night overall used the insane high notes sparingly (presumably to preserve his voice over the duration of the tour), the tone of his belting voice was just incredible, and especially easy to hear with the quieter instrumentation on the acoustic set.
So the last third of the set was the happy/upbeat songs (mostly, I thought Broken Open was unusually close to the end). Now don't take this the wrong way, but this part of the set was kind of underwhelming compared to the thrilling theatrics and chilling vocals of the earlier sections. It was just more typical, get up and sing your song type stuff. The dancers were good, the music was good...maybe I am too demanding, lol. There were some technical issues on BO and IIHY...I think the backing tracks were not properly synced and it sounded muddled.
In the back of my head during the whole concert I was anticipating the new cover songs. When the first one was ROF, I was pleased, with it being a fan favorite and us only having seen the single, short live performance before. But when the encore was revealed to be MW, I have to admit I was quite disappointed. Yes, he did do a different, faster/more rock version, but we've heard SO many renditions of it by now. I would prefer it was retired and only brought out every once in a while for old times' sake. Just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary, etc. Just saying I think the concert could be much improved by switching that out for a NEW cover. Or heck, even something from Upright. Just not MW, which we've heard 60+ versions of.
So to summarize:
First third: OMG Adam you thrill me so!
Second third: OMG Adam your voice makes angels cry!
Third third: Adam puts on a typical rock/pop concert.

Just got home from Wilkes-Barre......
OMG! I loved every moment of the show. Our seats weren't the greatest (mezzanine) but it really was a small, intitmate theater so although I couldn't see his beautiful face up close I saw every move, every step and enjoyed every moment.
When he first stepped on stage I got chills....it was happening, he was here, the Glam Nation Tour was beginning! I haven't read what anyone else has said and I'm not sure I can actually describe everything. He looked great, sounded amazing, we got ROF and I loved the version of Mad World.
It was everything and more that I expected. I loved the story arc, the voodoo look and sound. The dancers weren't distracting at all.
I am beyond thrilled that I got to see opening night of the tour. And so happy that I finally got to meet many of you. Eric - I am so happy to have finally met you and thanks for arranging the little dinner/get-together even though the place seemed a bit ill prepared for us crazy Adam fans :haha:
I'll probabaly think of other things I want to say as I go back and watch the videos but the one thing I felt as the show ended was complete happiness....not just for me, but for Adam. I felt so happy for him....he did it!! He's living the dream and I couldn't be prouder or happier! I am so honored to be a fan and 'get it'

I knew I'd remember/think of other things - I'm tired :haha:
FYE - Although he didn't sing it live it was a part of the show. The lights went down, the song started playing, the pics appeared and the audience was singing along...loudly. I thought it was a great way to start the show....after all he was there 'for our entertainment'.
Fever - Loved at the beginning he interacted with Tommy. Last few times he's performed it, he didn't do that and I love the Adommy moments.
WWFM - I will never get tired of the line "It's me, I'm a freak but thanks for lovin' me". I know it's coming, I know how the crowd is going to react but each and every time it makes me smile and I can feel the love being sent to him. It must overwhelm him to feel it!!
Soaked - Incredible vocals! My only complaint - the crowd wouldn't stop screaming and I just wanted absolute quiet so I could bask in the glory of his voice...but...I know, it's a concert and people just can't help themselves. But that performance just requires silence from the crowd - the vocals - wow!!
Aftermath - I was thinking about Alisan and Ferras as he was singing it - how proud they must be of their friend and that he's singing their song live in concert and singing it beautifully.
He was right when he said it would be taseful...it was a tastefully, sexy, Adam show. He was still very sexy and had those sexy Adam moments - dancing with Terrance and Taylor during the 'menage a trois' line....the 'starts in his bass and ends in my crystal ball' line. Of course, just being himself he's sexier than anyone else. He proved last night that you can be sexy/sensual without being overt about it. Not that I mind when he gets really, really sexy/naughty but I was impressed that he proved you can walk the line without crossing it and still be sexy. Actually, he just can't help it - sexy just oozes out of him from the moment he walks on stage!
As the show was ending I was thinking 'we've just witnessed a change in the live music scene...no one else is doing this...especially no other male performer...he's going to change music as we know it....no one else has the combination of performer talent with the unquestionable vocal skills that he has...no one can match him....he is what the word 'entertainer' is all about'
Oh...and....I love him!!! <3 <3

Adam Lambert Glams Out For Tour Opener
June 4, 2010
By Dan Savoie
Adam Lambert’s Glam Nation Tour kicked off at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania last night. Tickets for the sold-out show were being flogged by scalpers for almost three times their retail value, but by all accounts, the extra charges seemed to be worth it.
At the request of RCA Records and 19 Entertainment, media were banned from attending the event, leaving them to rely on fans for reports, or God forbid, having to buy their own tickets to attend. One such company to take the plunge and purchase a ticket was the Wilkes-Barre Times-Leader newspaper, which said “the singer owned the stage from the very first moments, giving the packed theater exactly what it wanted.”
Lambert himself took to Twitter to thank the fans: “Thanks Wilkes Barre for being such an amazing audience for our first show!!” He performed a short 65 minute set, which was packed with 14 songs, opting to leave out the title track from his platinum CD For Your Entertainment (which made an appearance as his intro music only).
Fan discussions the following day seem to center around the set list, which included a majority of material from his debut album and two cover songs that date back to his American Idol performances (Ring Of Fire and Mad World). A fan, known as myspencer50 commented on the Planet Fierce Forum, “I'd rather have another Adam song than a new cover any day! 14 songs in 65 minutes is pretty unbelievable.”
Lambert appeared on the stage dressed in a top hat, long brown coat, and dripped with swagger. He opened with the new song Voodoo, which quickly transitioned into Down the Rabbit Hole and Ring of Fire. The stage featured a metallic staircase and was loaded with plenty of lights for dramatic effects. Lambert was accompanied by his usual live band and a couple of dancers.
Lambert's set list was: Voodoo, Down the Rabbit Hole, Ring of Fire, Fever, Sleepwalker, Whataya Want From Me (acoustic), Soaked (acoustic), Aftermath (acoustic), Sure Fire Winners, Strut, Music Again, Broken Open, If I Had You and Mad World (encore).
The show also featured Allison Iraheta and Orianthi, who at one point shared the stage together for a performance of Iraheta`s “Don’t Waste The Pretty

This is the first chance I've had to get on the computer since Friday night. As we all know, the show was amazing, but my fun started much earlier in the afternoon!
Went around to the back of the Kirby Center around 2:00 and found the tour buses...not a huge crowd, so my son and I decided to hang out for a while (turned out to be 4 hours). Got there just in time to see LP going into the building.
The word was that Adam had eaten lunch at a restaurant close by (can't remember the name) then he went for a jog, was back in his hotel getting a shower and would be coming over soon. Turns out his hotel wasn't the Ramada but the hotel directly behind the Kirby Center.
After a bit, Tommy came out of one of the bus and talked to us...got a pic with him...damn, he smelled so good!
Shortly after, Monty emerged and chatted it up answering questions about the well-being of the twins...all is great with them! Got a pic with him too!
Then saw Brooke, Allison and Orianthi go in (wasn't quick enough to get a pic of Allison, but got Brooke and Orianthi.
Of course, assuming that Adam would go into the building the same way that LP, Tommy, Monty, Brooke, Allison and Orianthi did, we all stayed put waiting for him. WRONG! He snuck in another door on the other side! I didn't get to see him, but my son caught a glimpse of him being rushed in with plenty of escorts.
We spent the next hour or so talking with the security dude pleading for him to ask Adam to come out and say hello (at that moment there were only 8 of us, so we thought there was a chance). The guard teased with us but never went in to talk to him...he basically said that once he was in, he wouldn't come back out.
Didn't matter, we still hung out for a good while longer getting to know each other and listening to Adam's songs on someone's iTouch. THEN, the door opened and Tommy and Sutan walked out and Adam was standing in the doorway waving! He didn't come all the way out and went back in just a quick, but we caught a glance! This made us even more hopeful that he'd eventually come out.
A little later, Sasha came out and hung with us. She said that Adam would try to come out, so again no one was going to leave. My pic...
Saw Lane and Neil while we were waiting...
Finally at 6:15, I had to go back to my hotel to get ready...
Turns out he never came out. :(
I'll try again in Cleveland!! Sorry I never made it over to Keenan's...hope you guys had a blast!

Tell me about it...everytime I thought it was hopeless and thought about leaving, someone would throw us a bone and give us hope again that he might come out. I stayed until the last possible moment and hated to leave, but I didn't want to show up at the concert in my ratty old jeans and wind-blown hair. Though I would've been thrilled that the girls who stayed after me would've gotten to see him, it would've killed me if I found out he came out after I left.
Thanks for the nice comment about my outfit. When I finished putting those studs on the shoulder of my blazer, my oldest son (who isn't exactly a fan) said, "Really mom? That looks like something Adam Lambert would wear." Mission accomplished!!! :D
I keep thinking about the fantasy world that Adam took us to that night during the concert....I wanna go back and live there!!
