This sucks...I was hoping for a lighthearted discussion but this became all so serious and sad. :'( I don't like seeing Adam doubt himself, but he's only human. I really wish they would move on and start talking about his music instead. I've had enough of the AMA discussion.

I just read this article, and my first thought was that Adam's been talking to his parents, and perhaps they have given him a few things to think about. As parents, that is what we do.

For him to say that people felt disrespected....that had to come from somewhere; either his family counseling him, or other people, who knows? And in the wake of this, ABC is changing their ENTIRE policy about how they will handle live performances, including stipulated contracts in the future. That is not small potatoes, no matter what any of us think. It is a huge reaction by ABC.

Adam has to be feeling this, and part of that is questioning what your original thought process was. I found him to be very humble in this article - and I will admit, I have mixed feelings here. I don't think he deserves this weight on his shoulders, but it is what it is.

Having said all of that, objectively, I suspect it is part him, and part externally influenced damage control, but in truth, none of us will ever really know. His earlier tweets could have been in response to previous fan tweets (as I thought), or it could have been a strategy to prepare us for the Ellen interview where he radically changes his position. He knows his fans are polarized on this issue. On the one hand, he could have been softening the blow to the fans who believe he should never apologize, and on the other, conveying humility to the ones who are very angry/upset/whatever. In retrospect, it seems a bit coincidental that he sends those tweets, then offers the same message on Ellen. Those are my objective thoughts only. My heartfelt thoughts are that he is torn, and trying to do what seems best all the way around.

But I do have to say this: as fans, there is an awful lot of trouncing going on here, laced with what feels to me like disappointment in him not acting the way any one person thinks he should. Perhaps we should just let Adam make those calls, and stop getting upset because he seemingly changes stories or backs down when we think he shouldn't. If we love Adam, we should be walking by his side on this rocky road, no more, no less.

My daughter (13) gave me a new perspective tonight. She had not seen the performance because 11 was past her bedtime on a school night. She had seen pictures on the internet of the kiss and heard about the contoversy and asked if I would show her the video. I showed her the Jim Cantinello version of him talking through the performance. She was offended by nothing. She thought he sounded good through most of the performance (She hasn't listened to the song more than once or twice). She thought it shook him up when he fell and he was trying to "save" the performance. She also asked at the end where was the kiss of the guy. "I only see him kiss the girl" She said. LOL The only other comment she made is he didn't need all of that choreography because he can actually sing.

ABC is letting Adam take all of the blame when the performance was meant to be edgy. That is why they signed him. The E article made me cry for him. He has worked all of his life for this opportunity. Can we as his fans just love and support him without being so negative about every move he makes. He is only 27 and still trying to figure this all out.

I personally think that Adam set the agenda for this interview. His tweets BEFORE he even got to the studio were a heads up to his fans. If Ellen had been the one orchestrating the interview, Adam would not have known WHAT it was about BEFORE hand.

So for those of you who are already voicing disappointment in Ellen or this interview, a word of caution. Adam through his own reasoning chose to have Ellen give him the opportunity to 'clear the air' on the AMA thing.

I think that Adam's first responses were knee-jerk defensive reactions. He now has had time to review the performance in depth and has come to somewhat different conclusions and he wanted to let the public know about it.

There will be plenty of opportunities for Adam to be on Ellen and have fun with her.

I hope that when Barbara Walters introduces the piece with Adam, she adds a caveat that there have been new developments since her interview with Adam and that some of the comments may be outdated.

I haven't read any other comments yet, so I'll just offer my own reflections of seeing Adam on Ellen.

First of all, I sat and cried when Adam walked out and he and Ellen hugged 'for realz' ... I just knew they have such love and respect for each other and it showed between them.

Adam looked simply Adamlicious ... I loved his entire 'ensemble' ... hair, makeup, outfit ... the entire package was incredible. Every time I see him, I think he just can't get anymore gorgeous, and then he shows up like he did today and he's 'more' gorgeous.

The interview was very real between them ... as Adam continues to reflect on the AMAs, he is realizing what he might/could have done differently, and again, I am so proud of him for being able to change his perspective and self-adjust when HE feels it's warranted. He is humble, gracious, open-minded, flexible ... very very mature for his 27 years ... an old soul as I've said so many times. He 'gets' it. I loved when Ellen asked about his parents reaction and he said that his father suggested that he might want to apologize and he answered that he didn't think he did anything 'wrong', and I absolutely agree with that ... he did nothing wrong but I can tell from his responses that he does see where he might have done it differently and he understands why ABC cancelled him on GMA. I also loved Ellen's supportive remarks about his performance and that it should be 'across the board' for everyone and not just singling out Adam. They both agreed that it might have been a bad judgment call. She was just terrific with him. I loved how he admitted that he was very nervous for the AMAs all throughout the show. I could see his face from the very beginning in the audience .... very preoccupied ... I just sensed that he was very nervous and trying to figure out how to make his performance memorable and exciting. Well, he did succeed at that!

He sang like an angel ... maybe the best televised version of WWFM yet ... just loved his animation and feeling ... intense and passionate. God I love him.

And then the final hug between Adam and Ellen ... even warmer than the first ... he held onto her and they embraced for quite a few seconds ... tears filled my eyes again at the 'love' between them ...

Just a perfect way to start my day ...

ADAM. I. JUST. LOVE. YOU ... I. JUST. DO.

Looks like Adam is getting an ELLEN bump on iTunes! He just leaped up to #7 (deluxe) /#14 (standard) on the overall chart and (he was #13/ #63 earlier). And Allison is #5 (deluxe) and #11 (standard). Go baby HBIC!

ETA: Wait, I think I'm looking at the Pop chart. Sorry!

I've never cried over Adam before, but today I was at Walgreens and they had Carrie, SuBo, Adam, and Kris on a four slotted shelf on the checkout counter. The lady ahead of me was talking to the checkout person about Carrie and that they liked her. I picked up Adam's cd and said his was really good but the lady ahead of me said she wasn't having anything to do with him anymore after that AMA performance. The checkout lady agreed. I told them his voice is so good on the cd that they should check it out. The lady was nice but would not have anything to do with it and said the picture was awful too. I was sad as I left and after watching Ellen right afterwards, I just broke down crying after Adam sang. Did you guys notice how Monti seemed to be holding back tears too? I hope his sells didn't suffer too much over all this. :(

I just watched both the interview and the performance and I was blown away. The audience was into the interview, and even though Ellen was covering the serious stuff, she did it with such aplomb. She is so good, and the whole interview came from a position of Ellen supporting Adam and it showed. I expected it to be a bit of a downer from the article notes, and it wasn't. Adam is so different to watch - his words on paper are entirely different in flavor compared to hearing him speak.

And the performance, omg. Did anyone notice at certain times in the song he was blinking rapidly? I wondered if he was blinking back tears a couple of times. And that voice, good Lord. How can anyone sound so awesome?? He sounded just as good live as the album cut, incredible. There were enough variances to know he was not lip syncing, but the sound is so close to his album - I find that incredible, and always have. If people don't get on the bandwagon and realize what a true gift he really is, well, I just don't know.....

I just fell in love with him all over again listening and watching that performance - how could I not?

Way to go Adam! ::yes:: ::woot:: ::woot:: ::woot::

So glad Ellen reached out to Adam and asked him to be on her show. Have always loved Ellen, her smile and attitude are just contagious. She always seem so happy and content. This was the perfect venue for Adam to say what he needed to. Ellen was soooo supportive, and I'm sure it helped Adam personally and professionally. They will be great friends.

On to the important stuff: Adam looked and sounded beautiful. His voice is such an amazing gift. Wish I could have him on my tv every day. Also, want him back on Ellen again soon. I feel like I got cheated, because I didn't get to see him dance to the couch, and didn't get to see FUN interaction between the two of them. This MUST happen soon.

Adam and Ellen together was one of the most beautiful, touching things I've ever seen. They have so much mutual respect and admiration for each other.

Ellen really "went to bat" for Adam. You could tell everything she said was coming from her heart. There was absolutely NOTHING more she could have said or done to show her 100% support for him. She respects him, recognizes and is in awe of his incredible talent, knows what a nice person he is and she thinks he's smart.

And, I also think she's a little bit concerned for him. I'm thinking of her saying, "I hope this doesn't hurt you because ..." Ellen's been where Adam is right now. She's faced the discrimination and criticism; and, for a very long time, she probably thought her career was over. But, thank God, she got a second chance and she sure made the most of that opportunity. After hitting bottom, look at her now!! But ... she probably realizes tha part of the reason she got that 2nd chance was because she was already once an established star with a huge fan base. She might fear that, where Adam is just getting started, he hasn't had the chance to get as firmly established as she was ... and might not get the 2nd chance if this AMA thing hurts him too much right now.

In any case, there cannot be a doubt in anyone's mind that Ellen wants people to move beyond whatever hangups they have over the AMAs and give Adam the chance he so deserves. That prolonged hug at the end of his song was SO emotional for both of them. Just beautiful.

And, speaking of beautiful, I agree with those who said that Adam has never sung better and, OMG, he looked just STUNNING. ::wub::
