Ok, I have to share this story.
I listen to a "new rock" radio station in the morning and of course the DJs don't have anything good to say about Adam because he's not rock and roll. For some reason they mentioned him a couple of times recently, trashing him for turning down Queen's offer of lead singer and being rude to Gene Simmons (not letting facts get in the way of a good story, of course!). And I've felt moved to respond with a couple of carefully worded emails.
So this morning, they are talking about Adam again. The teaser to the segment is something like, "what happened at the AMAs with Adam Lambert? Sounds like there might have been a rock and roll moment..."
When they start talking about Adam, it's in a more friendly tone than usual. One of the DJs says he wants to give a big shoutout to [my name!] who's a big fan of the show AND Adam Lambert (like it's the most bizarre thing ever, lol).
They go on to talk about Adam kissing his male, straight band member and how ABC was flooded with complaints. They say there's nothing wrong with guys kissing, what's the big deal.
Then they bring up Details magazine and get that hopelessly confused with the Out controversy. And they mention that Adam's album was released yesterday.
Anyway, the upshot from my rock and roll DJs is:
1) Adam should be as gay and out as he wants to be;
2) they agree with Adam's statement that he didn't do anything female artists haven't done thousands of times;
3) he did it to promote his album and there's nothing wrong with that either.
I find it interesting that rock types may scorn Adam for his personal style, his Idol-ness, and the music (they think) he makes, but they still give him props for rock and roll attitude and ballsiness.

I don't know where to put this but Adam is AOL's KIDS artist of the month. I thought it's funny this is brought up after all this contraversy. He's obviously aims for a mature audience.
I never really expressed my opinion about the AMA performance. I was a little disappointed in the vocals. They weren't horrible but no where near his best. After the intial shock of the performance I found I absolutely LOVED IT. He performed the song so perfectly.
The performance was:
Out the box
Pushing the limit
Turning up the heat
Mastering pain and pleasure
It also asked the audience:
Do you know what you got into?
Can you handle what I’m about to do?
Do you like what you see?
And you thought that he was soft and sweet or a fallen angel ready to sweep ya off ya feet?
You thought wrong!

Adam said that the gesture was not pre-meditated. He did it in the heat of the moment at the end of his performance as a response to his critics, especially Aaron Hicklin, the editor-in-chief of Out magazine. He emphasized that it was NOT aimed at his fans, supporters, or people in the audience.

Has this been posted? If you scroll down and watch the first video, it shows support from Nikki Blonsky and Melinda Doolitte :) The second video pretty much bashes Adam, but admits that he's only going to gain from all of this in a positive way.

i dont know where to post this... but i'll just put it here.
Jay Leno mentioned Adam again tonight.
It was during a segment he did called "Products that should never merge" It was actually pretty funny...
The one about adam went like this:
"M&Ms merged with Skittles. Its Adam Lambert's favorite new candy-- S&Ms.
Its stupid, I know but I thought it was funny.

WOAH! Homophobes in the Conan's audience tonight
Conan said (paraphrasing here) GMA cancelled Adam Lambert's appearance tomorrow because he made out with a guy on the American Music Awards. And several audience members clapped. Homophobia at its finest.

Awww, I just watched Michael Sarver over at ontd_ai. You could tell he did not approve of everything that Adam did on the AMA's but he was so supportive. He even told people who had posted nasty things about Adam on Michael's twitter page that his twitter page was not a platform for hate. I now think I will download his singles when they come out in December just to show my appreciation. My opinion of him has changed so much since AI.

On Jay Leno's show a few minutes ago...
Jay was talking about the big balloons at the parades this morning. Then it showed the Shrek balloon running into the Adam Lambert balloon. Had Shrek and Adam kissing.
