Season eight saw the beginning of a judging shake-up that would continue until Mariah Carey sings. Kara DioGuardi was introduced to the panel ('member her?) and Nigel Lythgoe, who had been the show's executive producer until this point, left to focus on the international versions of his show So You Think You Can Dance?.

This was also the season that Adam Lambert came out of the closet, Alexis Grace's contestant number turned out to be a sex line and AT&T attempted to sway voting in favour of Arkansas native Kris Allen by supplying free mobile phones and texting services for fans who organized support parties. Allen went on to win the season, but really, Glambert clearly took the prize of longevity and loud, loyal fans.

Two words: Adam Lambert. Lambert was the best contestant the show has ever seen, and whether he was hitting homers (his version of “Mad World,” his stunning “Tracks of My Tears”) or bombing badly (remember his psycho sexual take on Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire?”) you couldn’t take your eyes off the guy. Still, he somehow lost to Kris Allen in the finals, the biggest injustice in the show’s history.

When I was a teenager browsing the aisles of record stores, I never would have imagined the day that millions of songs would be available to us at the push of a button, at any time and at any place. Even 10 years ago I don't think many of us could have imagined the ease with which we can get our hands - and ears - on new music! There's so much music now that it's pretty impossible to hear all of it - but that doesn't stop me from trying. As we transition into 2013 and leave 2012 behind, I'll be taking much of the music from the last year with me. These are the songs that rocked 2012 for me.

Adam Lambert's celebrating his 31st birthday Tuesday with a charity fundraiser that could become the world's biggest birthday card.

The singer has partnered with the non-profit foundation We Are Family, founded by his friend and musical collaborator Nile Rodgers, and is asking fans to donate in honor of his big day. Donating between $1 and $30 on the We Are Family website will get you a chance to sign an e-birthday card addressed to Adam. Fans who donate $31 or more also receive instructions on how they can submit 10-second video birthday message to the singer.

The We Are Family Foundation is dedicated to creating a global family through education and other programs that inspire respect, understanding and cultural diversity. Adam tweeted, "Glamily! I’m so proud to partner with @WeAreFamilyFdtn for my birthday this year & help empower teens everywhere!"

Adam is a pro at birthday initiatives. It was just last year, when he hit the big 3-0, that the singer debuted his video for "Better than I Know Myself."

The “Scream” star showed that he’s got moves like Jagger when he stripped down to his skivvies and gave Adam Lambert a birthday lap dance at Bootsy Bellows nightclub in Los Angeles on Saturday.The “American Idol” alum, who turns 31 today, looked impressed with Arquette’s raunchy-yet-funny skills and treated his fans to a barrage of Instagram photos which capture the mayhem.
One picture captioned, “Yup, this happened,” which shows off Arquette’s hairy chest and many tattoos, is definitely a sight to behold. Hmmm … we wonder if Arquette’s ex Courteney Cox is jealous?
Regardless, Arquette definitely wasn’t ashamed of his antics and later tweeted, “I've got video to prove it (remember forever) haha! @LAMBERTLUST @newnownext @adamlambert.”
In addition to tweeting out the funny photos, Lambert also encouraged his fans to donate $31 in honor of his big day to the We Are Family Foundation, which empowers youth to make the world a better place.

I won't translate word for word 'cuz most of it aren't news to us, so just gonna cherry-pick a few that stand out, at least to me.

(Note: this is a translation from Chinese which is subject to the interviewer's interpretation and understanding, so please proceed with "caution" on certain topic. ;) )
1) Trespassing will be officially released in China, soon (sounds like around the concert time).

2) Zhang Wei, the singer duet with Adam on the Voice of China, will be attending his idol's only concert in mainland China.

3) He feels a special connection with China, particularly the city of Shanghai! The first time in Shanghai, not only had he a fabulous suit custom made at a very well-known shop, but also went home with lots of nifty small purchases (for families & friends too).

4) Very proud of his charity work, the most recent one is "We Are Family Foundation" (with mention of surpassing 31k donation).

5) He's been busy getting ready for his Asia and East European tour (besides getting a birthday lap dance from David Arquette --- okay! that's me, maddie not the interviewer's add-on (rofl) )

6) After wrapping up his Asia & East European tour at the end of March, he will be starting the creative process of album #3; he's got so many ideas already and can't wait to work on it. AND...he's hoping in 2013 he will get to do some more TV, maybe even movies. Then, he adds, "I'll be a very happy man as long as I'm getting to create art it doesn't matter which form of art"!
