What it's suddenly Adams fault now. Some people are a bunch of over invested nutters? I mean really. Clearly some fans have created very set ideas of what Tommy's impact or role was in Adam's career. But they need to gain perspective and realize solo performers (Yes he is a solo performer, I thought he was the frontman of M5 too I was shocked ;)). Get rid of bass guitarists all the time. Partic if they are backing. Some of these nutters need to get it through their thick skulls. Adam Lambert and Tommy were NOT in a band together. Therefore their is no immediate loyalty or anything. Their is a difference between a backing band and an actual band. A backing band is their to support the artist. What bothers me here is people are implying Tommy is relevant or deserves the same limelight as Adam. Adam is the STAR no one else. He is disposable I am sorry it is true. I don't know the guy I have nothing againgst him. I am just indifferent to him because I signed up to hear Adam sing that's it.

I think you are preaching to the choir here again. I don't believe anyone on this forum believes that it is Adam's fault at all. IMO, Tommy should have been gone after era1. But we all know that Adam is loyal to a fault. It bites his azz sometimes and that is the sad part for me.

When Tommy's nutter fans start with the loyalty meme...well, that is beyond me too. Loyalty? Really? He GOT PAID to do a job. Loyalty to me, would have been to still play for Adam for free or take a pay cut. THAT is loyalty to me. IMO, Adam was the loyal one to Tommy. Not the other way around.

When Adam performs with Queen, you can see the professionalism. Roger, Spike and Brian never take their eyes off of Adam and follow his lead. Adam's past backing band members were never watching him. They were just showboating for their own benefit and look where it got them in the end.

I'm glad the slate was wiped clean.

Bri , Roger & Spike would all...allow for Adam to be the lead...the true frontman !! Their professionalism & awareness gave Adam the confidence to be his best....IMO !!! Hoping Adam can find this type of chemistry in his solo band !!!

I have nothing against Tommy and other old band members, but agree that the fresh clean start is probably the best for Adam. I read some comments on the video: some gleeks are such a hoot! And some made me thinking: all that sauciness with Tommy was fun and probably appropriate for the previous eras, but this time around it's more dark and serious...

I think band members were in the shadow for this performance because it's a ....Ghost town, you know? I think when Adam performs other songs, it could be different.

I was in a waiting room about to take my oath of enlistment when this performance came on the TV and as I was listening I was this girl watch it...she was joining the navy and I met her the night before at the hotel they were holding us at and we talked alot I never bothered to get her information. She is going to be somewhere on a ship while I'm in the army it's beautiful and sad at the same time. the beat and the tune has defined my memory of joining the army. Sounds wierd I know.

Sterling Fox, one of the co-writers. He commented on the youtube video that he 'helped write this song and supplied the whistle'.

When Adam left RCA a huge "image re-make" of Adam began. If you remember, he stopped wearing makeup..no more eyeliner...grew Melvin...started "designer dressing" and doing interviews that showed him as more low-key. YES, he was still Adam..but a much more sophisticated Adam. Allowing his masculine side to completely override his feminine side.

IMHO, all of this was a plan for his career, hatched and guided by DMG and WBR. As part of this "remake" and Era 3 rollout, his live performances had to showcase him as a solo artist...smooth and sophisticated. The "gay guy from Idol" had to vanish. Part of that was a new backing band.

So, IMO, kudos to DMG & WBR...they have done a stellar job!!

No question he's grown up...and matured. And you are absolutely correct...the whole QUEEN thing has been the best blessing for him. He's matured not only as a person...but as an artist, in no small part because of Queen. Months of being on the road with mature, very successful artists made an impression on him.

I'd imagine GT will always need to be performed with a backing track, as the house beat and whistle would be difficult to replicate live. (But I'd be happy to be proved wrong!)

As for being "subdued," I've always felt that about anything performed on Ellen. The set doesn't have a lot of atmosphere, and the sound tends to be dry and lacking in vibrancy. (And Ellen herself seems to be going through the motions half the time, and that includes her reaction to Adam's singing here.) But I wasn't disappointed by Adam's performance. Not at all! I would say it was (necessarily) just a tad restrained, rather than subdued, as you'd expect of a first-time performance of a song that has a lot riding on it. And he couldn't have improvised too much (even if it had been technically possible), as people need to be thoroughly familiar with the song first before an artist starts playing around with it.

Anyway, I'm sure Adam will have carefully noted what needs to be tweaked to lift it from an "A" to an "A+" next time [happy.gif]

As for YT views, I agree that those fans who upload the two official videos to their own channels are doing Adam a real disservice. (Don't these people think?!!) But I wouldn't be too dispirited by the number of views of GT on Adam's official channel. Just in the last 24 hours, for example, there have been 107,000 views of the music video---not bad! Total views should be up to a million in a few days, and meanwhile the lyrics video has had over 1,517,000 views. That's over 2.2 million views in total so far for the two vids. I realize that's small fry when compared with the efforts of Maroon 5 and other bubblegum artists, but considering that Adam's been out of current pop for so long, these are pretty impressive figures.
