YAY!!!! Now can you go edit your signature, customize, type in *TAT*? We're trying to all have the same signature so we know when people post from mobile or on line while keeping your phone's identity secret... Although I see you worked around the secrecy problem!

I've been playing Whack-A-Spammer for over a week now...
Usually a first name, followed by nonsensical letters is a dead giveaway... but now I have a MelvinMT... I can't whack Melvin... unless he actually spams!!!!

We have a new toy!!!!!!
Check out the link "Quick Access to Main Threads" (on the right of FAQ, just below the banner).
It looks best on PC's. iPads and mobiles only show two pics maximum per line and third one on separate line...
Let me know what you guys think!

In case you're wondering what happened to our members 'number', I came on the board this afternoon to find over 50 spammers had registered overnight!
I cleaned those up and then decided to do a real overhaul... I've deleted all people who registered and never returned... Either they were spammers who actually never spammed or people who meant to join and never logged in again.
I'd rather have a small TRUE membership than big numbers of people who couldn't find us if they tried...
You don't need to post to remain 'active', but logging in once in a while is a sign that you at least remember your user name!

Me, me, me
Don't delete me...I'm still here lol.
Stupid question, but what's the purpose of the spamming? I don't usually go into the suspect threads, so I don't know if they're selling something or want you to click on links, or what?
I can usually tell by the weird names or thread titles.
Thanks for cleaning house, seems to be a never-ending task though

They usually are selling something or they have links that they get paid for on a 'per click' basis. Most of them are computer-based... there's no human at the other end doing the registration... it's all computer programming. Every site has them. At IDF, we didn't notice them so much because we were only ONE sub-forum in the sea of sub-forums. They had a lot of mods handling them.svca » Sun Sep 06, 2015 6:09 pm wrote:Me, me, me

Here, we are ONE board so I see them all. Since last night, there seems to have been a flood of activity from the spammers... Dunno why....
Members shouldn't be seeing their posts or new topics though... Do you still see them before I get to them to prune them out?

I've seen their posts in an existing thread, but I never see new posts, if they post one.

Yes, when I first found the settings to force their new topics to be approved by admin, I didn't realize that it didn't include their posts in existing threads. I've remedied that now. So you guys shouldn't be seeing any of their crap!Paula » Sun Sep 06, 2015 6:44 pm wrote:I've seen their posts in an existing thread, but I never see new posts, if they post one.

Lol, Marie
I saw a weird thread a couple of days ago, think it was early in the morning...it was gone later in the day. I didn't click on it, so I'm only assuming it was a spammer....had a weird thread title, too.

I know! I had pruned chronologically from the end going backwards. I didn't want to prune some names that 'might' have been a poor choice of username, just in case... So spammers that escaped my pruning a few weeks back still had access to the board.svca » Sun Sep 06, 2015 7:01 pm wrote:Lol, Marie

Today, I was so pissed to find 50 new spammers had popped up overnight that I did a major overhaul... Sorry to any 'real' user that may have got caught in the crossfire.
There are still a handful of users that are questionable, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt... until they make a bad move...

I don't dare put out food anywhere; my son is home for the summer, and he eats everything in sight.madamimadam » Sun Sep 06, 2015 7:08 pm wrote:Put carrots near the door? WUT?
