Queen & Adam Lambert Arrange North American Tour, Let The Hating Begin

It’s being called their first official tour. Apparently the “series of shows” they played in Europe in 2012 doesn’t count as an actual tour. Then again, nothing really counts until it happens in America.
Queen and Adam Lambert will embark on a month-long tour of North America beginning June 19th. That night, Lambert and Queen will rock Chicago and the United Center. Their trek ends July 20 in Washington, D.C. at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. Other stops on their schedule include San Jose on July 1, Detroit on July 12, and Uncasville on July 19 (Mohegan Sun).
Three things that really standout from their itinerary…
1.Only Las Vegas gets two shows. Queen and Adam Lambert are in Sin City on July 5 and July 6. Both of their shows are at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel.
2.More than a third of their upcoming tour stops are in Canada. Queen and Adam Lambert will be in Winnipeg on June 21, Saskatoon on June 23, Edmonton on June 24, Calgary on June 26, Vancouver on June 28, Toronto on July 13, and Montreal on July 14.
3.“Let's rock those beautiful arenas JUST ONE MORE TIME!" said Queen guitarist Brain May via a press release. His line indicates that this could be the last time North Americans see Queen. It also means that their upcoming jaunt around the New World will have them visiting some big-time venues. For example, Queen and Adam Lambert perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 17, Dallas’ American Airlines Center on July 10, and Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on July 16.
The team of Queen and Adam Lambert is anything but novel. The rock legends and American Idol’s eighth season runner-up have ties that go all the way back to 2009. Furthermore, Lambert is a huge Freddie Mercury fan and cites him as influence. Even before Lambert was crooning with Queen, critics compared him to Mercury. In fact, for his American Idol audition, Lambert sang "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Lambert will be Queen’s third lead singer. Obviously, Mercury was the first; he passed away in 1991. From 2004 to 2009, the position was filled by Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. Over the years, Queen has employed a number of guest vocalists including Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, and Robbie Williams.

Reaction
The reaction to this, at least from my perusal of comments on various Websites, is mixed. Mixed as in there are three basic opinions. The first camp hates Adam Lambert and the idea of him touring with Queen. These fans think Queen died with Freddie Mercury. The second group realizes Freddie isn’t returning and Lambert (or Rodgers before him) is the next best thing. The third faction thinks Adam Lambert is a great selection and they can’t want to see him with Queen in concert.
Bottom line, Freddie Mercury isn’t walking through that door. Everyone, including Lambert, wishes Mercury could still tour with Queen, but that’s not going to happen. This isn’t like Journey’s current situation where Steve Perry is alive but just pissed off at his former bandmates. Mercury has gone to the great beyond and left behind a bunch of great music. It’s a testament to him and to Queen that people still want to experience their music.
For those who call Lambert a “teenybopper” you’re dead wrong. He’s 32 and appeared on American Idol five years ago. He didn’t force himself on May and Taylor. The remaining two members of Queen are big Lambert fans and they asked him to be their singer. Also, Lambert hasn’t joined Queen. The tour is being billed as “Queen + Adam Lambert” just as it was billed “Queen + Paul Rodgers.”

Well, the box office may kill Tom for releasing this info...due to overwhelming response, they have added another Queen with Adam Lambert show for July 25th! Keep checking Mohegan Sun for ticket sale date.
Do not know how reliable this is but it really looks like they adding shows, perhaps waited to see the response and tickets sales first??
