"Brian's wonderful song It's Late - should have been a major hit! (maybe it's not too late?) #NewsOfTheWorld 1977 @OIQFC"
This is an interesting statement about "It's Late". I hadn't heard the song before hearing Adam sing it in Phoenix so I listened to the original song a few times and didn't really enjoy it the way Freddie sang it. His voice on this song wasn't very pleasant...very rough. They showcased his vocals but they weren't the best part of the song. Freddie's personality (like in a live performance) is apparent during the song but I'm not sure that it was something that would have appealed to the general public and perhaps the reason why the single didn't do so well.
When Adam sings it live, with no filter, it shows off his refined, rich, powerful voice, supple transitions through the words, and he really made it his own. It is really excellent!
I would love for Queen to record with Adam to get a collection of songs that we already know that he really sounds great. They aren't all Queen hits but Adam's vocals would make them a wonderful collection of songs for us Adam fans. Could go for Queen + Adam for these songs: It's Late, Dragon Attack, I Was Born To Love You, Who Wants To Live Forever, Save Me, Under Pressure duet with Roger Taylor, Get Down Make Love, The Show Must Go On, I Want To Break Free, Another One Bites The Dust, Don't Stop Me Now, Spread Your Wings, Somebody To Love, Stone Cold Crazy...etc!
