Adam Lambert has the whole fame thing down now, and his upcoming release will prove it.
Lambert’s third studio record, “The Original High,” sees executive producing from the biggest crafters of pop engineering, Max Martin and Shellback. Their gifted talents combined with Lambert’s sheer determination through self discovery should birth quite an awe-inspiring pop record.

“[The album is] dance-y but bittersweet, and the lyrics are a little darker [than they have been, previously],” he tells Notion. “I’ve done the more bubblegum stuff, I’ve done the camp stuff, and now I want to encourage people to face their shit. I want to show them the part of me that’s not all polished or [still part of] the ‘pageant on TV’ thing – I want it to be real, you know?”

The American Idol alum is changing up his tone on “The Original High,” trading in his signature sound for something more organic, “I think it’s just where I’m at. I think one of the things I’ve been learning is the ‘less is more’ approach to a lot of things. Less is a little easier.”

His first single out April 21, “Ghost Town,” is evident of that.
