^^^^^OMG!!!!!!!!!!

And this of course for any who might have missed it.
Queen Plus Adam Lambert: a review
"Music is my drug. It stimulates so many areas of the brain. The experience of seeing Queen with Adam Lambert stimulates one area of the brain in particular for many people of my age: the hippocampus. You see, the hippocampus deals primarily with memory, and for many of us, Queen is all about memory. We remember how Freddie could command emotion and bring us to tears with the flick of a mic stand or the raising of a hand or an eyebrow. We remember how devastated we felt when we knew that Freddie was gone forever. We thought that Queen, in all her glory, would be gone forever. Never would arguably the most extensive and well-loved rock oeuvre ever live on in live form. Our children and our children’s children would never be able to see Brian, Roger, and John recreate the joy, hard-rock edge, brilliance, musicianship, playfulness, and camp that was Queen with Freddie Mercury."

"Enter Adam Lambert.... "

"Last, and of course the furthest thing from least, thank you Adam. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being brave enough to suffer the slings and arrows of the haters, or those I just call “the ones who are not yet Adam fans”. Thank you for being humble enough for the people who are paying attention to know that you know your place in this miracle, and are grateful for it. Thank you for being fierce enough, because that is who you are. Thank you for honing your gift to such exquisite heights, and for protecting it when this challenge is overwhelming for the very best instrument. Thank you for your camp and playfulness, and for just not giving a crap about what anyone thinks when it comes to having fun, joy, and sexiness play out on stage. And thank you most of all for sharing all of this with us, your loyal fans. You have never let us down. You can be sure that we appreciate it, and love you all the more for it.".......

Sucky review:
http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/mu ... eview.html

I can understand a few points from that review. We were there and it definitely took the crowd a few songs to get into it. Perhaps they need to rearrange the set a bit.

I thought Adam was perfection and so did the rest of our group. However, there definitely were some lulls. Brian's second, 20 minute guitar solo improvisation with the space graphics on the big screen was great at first but by the end it had sucked the energy out of the building. I'm not sure if this second extended solo is the norm but it was over 20 minutes long and that was about 15 minutes too much. Many people used that time to go to the bathroom, check their phones, converse with their neighbours, etc. I'm curious to hear if that extended solo has been happening in all the concerts or if it was just put in this one because of the crazy schedule that they have right now.

I have only been to one Queenbert shows....Detroit....

I just went back to check the Detroit vids......They were on their feet at the very beginning.....

They loved loved loved....Now I'm Here !!!

As I said in the Detroit thread.....There were some hard core Queen fans in attendance at Detroit.....

they sang and cheered every song....and loved Adam too.....which I was happy for that....

However....they really showed the love to Brian & Roger.....and when they showed Freddies's pics...they went crazy....

There where many Queen fans beside & in front of me....they loved the whole show....it seemed

They were all in their 40's and had been to many Queen concerts back in their younger days....

One lady had her original Queen Tshirt on....very cute.....

There were 4 guys in front of me that all had the same birthday as Brian May....and told everyone

They loved the solo....so who knows

Could be the dynamics of the crowd....maybe there were not as many Queen fans in this concert ??

They didn't know their earlier music ??? Just a guess

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/mus ... e19584292/

It's funny... I have kept my opinion to myself not having known of Queen in its heydays with Freddie, but I have read a few books on them and seen a few documentaries...

I wonder if Brian and Roger ever get tired of having to fawn over Freddie's memory ad nauseum. From what I have read/seen, Freddie was a diva in the worst sense of the word. He had mood swings, would claim he simply could not go on to do a show, only to get fawned over by the entourage and then giving in... Claiming ownership of songs (it mattered a lot back then because whoever 'wrote' a song, got the royalties and none of them were rich then)... Throwing temper tantrums backstage if a show didn't go to his satisfaction (whether technical or set malfunctions) and Brian was usually the one to calm down the waters with whomever Freddie had lashed out at.

John Deacon kind of stayed away from Freddie as much as he could in order to avoid the drama.

Freddie was an iconic singer but never let anyone forget it...

What a breath of fresh air for Brian and Roger to have Adam as their frontman... No diva drama, pure joy of entertaining, goes with the flow when something goes wrong, is very generous on stage with ALL the band members... So no, "Adam is no Freddie", and I bet that Brian and Roger bless their stars every morning that he isn't!!!!

Their friendship shows on stage... it is a beautiful thing

SO happy they all found each other

I never thought of it that way. Interesting perspective.
I've never known much about Freddie, other than his tragic death and the huge musical legacy of songs the band had. I do know that he always tried to do his own thing, without the band and under his own name, so did Brian and Roger. As big of a star that Freddie was, he couldn't have the same kind of success without them. None of them could.
It was really a combination of them all that made the magic.
Adam can, and they are lucky he his lending his own time and talent to bring their music to a new generation.
