He called him "dark Elvis" :)
I was there last night, it was amazing. There were a couple of odd moments, some really moving moments but mostly epic rock moments.
I was standing with Flyte and Lynn from AO, we were standing downstairs, and really close to the walkway, so had a great view.
Adam was so fierce for the first half, he sizzled and attacked everything. The audience sang along too, and so loudly, it was amazing.
I think that the middle section without Adam was a mixed bag. I know that Roger and Brian needed to have their moments, and it was right that they did, and the two songs they sang were truly moving, and when the audience sang too, it was very tender beautiful and strangely intimate.
I think things flagged a bit with the very long solos, bass solos included, so I think Adam had a job to bring the energy back. He did great, he really did. It was a tough crowd, mostly guys, mostly Queen fans and they did seem to really enjoy themselves. By the end of the second half Adam was in full stride and songs like Bohemian Rhapsody were epic! I think he gained a lot of respect last night, he looked so very happy, like he was having a blast.
He is such a brave man. I really admire him for doing these gigs and the tightrope he has to walk to pull it off.
