Adam Lambert Brings His Codpiece to Australia

Adam Lambert seriously has split personalities. While promoting his debut album in Australia, Adam graced his presence at Sydney’s Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras as a shoulder-studded, diamond-codpiece-adorning slice of pop sex—and then managed to morph into a subtle crooner while working the daytime talk show circuit on morning show Sunrise. Not many other artists can excel at being a funky, brazen glam space rocker by night and a delicate, understated singer during daytime hours, but Adam handles the personality switch effortlessly.

After the jump, watch the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the pop world strutting his leather-and-latex-clad bod during “For Your Entertainment” at Mardi Gras, followed by a sweet and toned down acoustic rendition of “Whataya Want From Me.”

American Idol winner Adam Lambert takes us behind the scenes of his album photoshoot.

Since he was runner-up on last year's American Idol, Adam Lambert's outlandish style has brought a breath of fresh air across the charts and a little controversy as well. Who can forget last year's AMAs where Adam kissed another guy live on stage!

Adam's a true entertainer and he's in Oz for a whirlwind promo tour to showcase his new album, For Your Entertainment.

To celebrate Adam dropped off some behind-the-scenes video footage from his album shoot. Plus, he gave us the video for his current single "Whataya Want From Me", which was co-written by Pink! See if you can hear the influence!!

Every TV you turn on, every magazine you read and everywhere you turn everyone is talking about ADAM LAMBERT.

This Los Angeles based vocalist worked the club scene at venues like Society, Metro Mondayz and Shits & Giggles tearing up the stage with his androgynous sense of style, vocal power and range to make even Mariah Carey jealous.

He was inarguably the most talked about contestant on American Idol last season and one of People Magazines "Hottest Bachelors."

Adam Lambert is currently on the road promoting his latest release "For Your Entertainment."

Somehow he found time during his hectic schedule to talk to me about his upcoming projects and what it was like being on the show.

Joshua Miller: After years in Los Angeles trying to "make it" you have hit the big time. You must be on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. What is the hardest to cope with? Don’t say the paparazzi, we see the pictures, you’re eating it up!

Adam Lambert: The hardest part has to be maintaining my friendships. I’m so busy and I don’t want my friends to think that I’ve forgotten them. Its also difficult b/c old acquaintances now want to be my new BFF’s and it’s so obvious why. It’s flattering, but difficult to read peoples’ true motivation.

Joshua Miller: It seems that so many celebrities crumble under the pressure. How do you stay so focused?

Adam Lambert: The pressure is definitely intense, but I’ve always enjoyed feeling busy and fired up to do projects. The extra expectation helps me deliver stronger performances. I tried not to see American Idol as a competition, more as an opportunity for exposure and experience. That helped keep me less intimidated and prepared me for the route I’m on today.

Joshua Miller: What can we expect from you on your promo tour?

Adam Lambert: Well first off, expect sickening wardrobe and eye makeup! Let’s dance!

Joshua Miller: Is there one song that you have heard that you connected with on such a level that you wish you had written it?

Adam Lambert: "ECLIPSE" by ROBYN, heard it for the first time and wept. It reminds me of my ex and [me]. Also "COME HOME" by ONE REPUBLIC, made me cry as well. It was written about an army wife missing her man, but to me it meant asking for love itself to come to you.

Joshua Miller: Give us five words that would accurately describe an Adam Lambert performance.

Adam Lambert: High. Fierce. Beat. Horny. Fun.

Joshua Miller: What was the last song that you listened to that you honestly enjoyed?

Adam Lambert: "LOSE YOU" by PEACHES

Joshua Miller: You have said you would love to work with artists like Lady Gaga and Madonna. If you had to pick ONE artist to sing with dead or alive who would it be?

Adam Lambert: I would be honored and so intimidated to sing with the late Freddie Mercury.

Joshua Miller: You’re a FIERCE Queen! Who is your favorite Drag Queen?

Adam Lambert: Out of fairness I can’t pick one. I love drag queens for the bravery, expression, and attitude they bring to the scene.

Joshua Miller: Describe your music-making process.

Adam Lambert: I am a team player. I enjoy co-writing where a couple people sit around and throw ideas out and everyone picks the best lyrics for the song. I also make suggestions for the production of the track as well. As long as I am involved in the creation of the song, I am thrilled.

Joshua Miller: Any advice for the current contestants of American Idol?

Adam Lambert: Those auditioning for should find a way to set themselves a part from the crowd. Think commercially though, this is the music BUSINESS. If you sing well, they are gonna be more interested in how to market you. Consider the type of artist you’d be and bring all that to the audition. Your song choice, look and presence are just as important as your abilities as a singer.
