I think Joe just seemed not that comfortable talking and being out front. As he said, he's not the lead singer. I've come to learn that lots of celebrities while they seem outgoing and crazy on stage, in film, etc. when it comes to 'real life' they get a bit uncomfortable having all eyes on them.
And obviously Adam is the exception to that rule.

Joe Perry is the guitarist of Aerosmith. He is a great guitar player and just has a book out this year.
