Don't delete me...I'm still here lol.

Stupid question, but what's the purpose of the spamming? I don't usually go into the suspect threads, so I don't know if they're selling something or want you to click on links, or what? ::thinking::

I can usually tell by the weird names or thread titles.

Thanks for cleaning house, seems to be a never-ending task though ::argh::
They usually are selling something or they have links that they get paid for on a 'per click' basis. Most of them are computer-based... there's no human at the other end doing the registration... it's all computer programming. Every site has them. At IDF, we didn't notice them so much because we were only ONE sub-forum in the sea of sub-forums. They had a lot of mods handling them.

Here, we are ONE board so I see them all. Since last night, there seems to have been a flood of activity from the spammers... Dunno why....

Members shouldn't be seeing their posts or new topics though... Do you still see them before I get to them to prune them out?

I've seen their posts in an existing thread, but I never see new posts, if they post one.

Yes, when I first found the settings to force their new topics to be approved by admin, I didn't realize that it didn't include their posts in existing threads. I've remedied that now. So you guys shouldn't be seeing any of their crap!

Lol, Marie ::crylaugh::

I saw a weird thread a couple of days ago, think it was early in the morning...it was gone later in the day. I didn't click on it, so I'm only assuming it was a spammer....had a weird thread title, too.

I know! I had pruned chronologically from the end going backwards. I didn't want to prune some names that 'might' have been a poor choice of username, just in case... So spammers that escaped my pruning a few weeks back still had access to the board.

Today, I was so pissed to find 50 new spammers had popped up overnight that I did a major overhaul... Sorry to any 'real' user that may have got caught in the crossfire.

There are still a handful of users that are questionable, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt... until they make a bad move... ::winking::

I don't dare put out food anywhere; my son is home for the summer, and he eats everything in sight. ::grin::

Been there! When my boys were still home, I'd come home with bags of groceries, put it all away, make a coffee, go relax for an hour in my room... I'd come back to the kitchen with most of it... gone!!!!!

Teenagers (and their slew of friends) cost me a fortune!

::haha::
