Hi! I hijacked your thread and changed the title so that it becomes the catchall for ALL of the TOH Tour... I'm sure there will be stuff outside of Australia.
I've opened a 2016 TOH Tour sub-forum with the 3 threads for the individual venues.
When you have a chance, could you transfer (quote, copy, paste) your posts into each venue as appropriate?

So can someone who understands these things explain to me how this works?
Dainty Group promotes the TOH Tour, but it's Adam's company who foots the bill?
Confuzzled by such things!

Was it not that Dainty Group who did all the QAL shows down under ?
Sorry can't answer your question do you mean DMG as Adams company
I am going hard for tix to Melbourne January 25. Its going to be very interesting to see what the demand is like. This is the same venue that Adam used for GlamNation. That show sold out, but not immediately.
Its a very nice venue with great acoustics, but obviously, the closer to the stage the better. I had 5th row last time and it was superb.

I used to do the accounting for a small local promoter.
Based on my experience, promoters negotiate and make deals with venues for the entertainer; make all arrangements for local advertising, promotions, ticket selling, security, local transportation such as limos to and from hotel, lodging, food services and any other requirements of the entertainer and their personnel. The promoter's familiarity with local venues, businesses and personnel make it easier for them to make the arrangements needed to put on an event. The entertainer just needs to get to the event, set up their own equipment, put on the show, pack up their equipment and haul it out. All of their other needs are handled by the people hired by the promoter. The promoter generally gets paid based on ticket sales and other factors.
Adam said that no promoter stepped up to the plate to handle Queen + Adam in the southeastern United States and that is why they didn't do any shows there. Promoters can lose money if the ticket sales fall below expectations and I guess the promoters in those states didn't envision the demand for that kind of entertainment event.
Adam said that his "company" will be handling the next tour. We were once enlightened to the fact that Adam formed a corporation to handle his business dealings. I believe that it is that corporation that he is referring to here. Therefore, his corporation, with the help of DMG, will be negotiating deals with promoters. His company will also be responsible for hiring and paying band members, dancers, and road crew salaries; transportation and lodging costs outside of those provided by promoter and some food costs (usually on performance days for crew, band, etc). Adam's company would pay for design and creation of stage settings and costuming if any. I suppose that accountants and lawyers who work for DMG do most of the actual work to handle the payroll, accounting and business dealings for his corporation. He probably has his parents on the board of directors so that they can keep an eye on things.
If anyone has any more insight, you are welcome to add to this!

Thanks for the good wishes Paula! This is quite a small venue. I loved going to GlamNation there. It has a very retro feel. Upstairs there is a bar. There is no lining up or anything, just have a couple of drinks and wander down to your seat. Pretty civilised and relaxed. The theatre is in a seaside suburb of Melbourne (St. Kilda) and not far from where my son and daughter in law live. I'll have to fly from Thailand of course, but totally worth it!

Great info!! Thanks for the enlightening and informing us! So Adam (his company) fronts the whole cost of the tour...including paying the promoters? Plus, DMG gets a cut based on his deal with them (10% ?) And, ofc, if he has his way, set design and costuming will be OTT!!
I wonder if WBR has any input (or cash fronting) into this?

Actually, in this day of BIG promoters, the promoter might have to put up a down payment to reserve the venue then they foot the cost for promo, ticket sellers, etc. Sometimes promoters pay the basic fee for acts that they want to bring to the venues or cities that they operate in. Adam's company may receive an up front payment from the promoter then receive a cut of the profits of the event after the venue and promoter take their negotiated cut. Every deal is different and the financial responsibility gets spread differently depending on who incurred the various costs. Some venues use their own personnel to handle many aspects of an event. The promoter would have less of a financial responsibility in that case. The venue takes their negotiated price from the ticket sales before anyone else gets paid.
Adam's company would have their own costs for stage settings, band, crew, travel, transportation, etc. but they DO NOT pay for the venue unless they have to cancel the event at the last minut. This is where Adam's vocal insurance would have come into play when he got sick. The venue fee and costs that the promoter incurred leading up to the concert could be covered by the insurance policy.
DMG gets paid by Adam for various professional fees like accounting, legal and other services. The 10% could be an over simplification of how they calculate their fee. I would have to read the fine print to know how they arrive at their fee!

Warner Music probably only gets a cut of the music sales at this point. They are however interested/involved in promo and radio play as that drives up music sales but they would not get a cut of touring and live events unless they sponsored or had a hand in promoting the event.
